═══════════════════
■ Massive re-working of the comm drivers. Communication kernel can now
tell the difference between a non-existant port and a FIFO enabled
16550.
■ FOSSIL support added. Program will automatically check for a FOSSIL,
and if present, use it instead of the internal routines. The FOSSIL
driver will only be used if bps rates are 0-9600, 19200, or 38400.
Any and all other speeds will be defaulted to the internal comm
routines.
■ "ignore.fossil" command code installed to stop the automatic use
of the FOSSIL driver. Even though the use of this would be unlikely,
it is included non-the less.
■ The SFEMB.CFG file, if not found in the current directory, will be
looked for in the same directory containing the SFEMB.EXE file.
■ Arrow keys now work (via modem) in the message base to scroll the
message and go to the next or previous messages.
■ Alias message base support added. A (hopefully) unused byte in the
SFMCONF.DAT file record was stolen to flag this. This will only
affect users whom use SFEMB. Users using the normal Spitfire message-
base will not be able to use an alias.
■ Personal Profile added. Personal Biographys may be stored, so users
can find out more about other users. Currently 2 bios are storeable.
A third (adult) bio will be added in a future version.
■ Alias as well as the users regular name will be flagged during the SCAN
mode of SFEMB.
■ The ability to import a text file into a message has been added. Quite
weak right now, it will only append to the end of the message.
■ *STRONGLY* considered locking out baud rates less than 9600 bps due
to speed issues.

═══════════════════
■ Various bugs fixed, this should run a bit cleaner.
■ An error-log file will now be created in the current directory called
EMB_ERR.LOG, this file will give critical information in tracking down
future bugs.
■ SFEMB will now consider <Ctrl-K>+<Ctrl-letter> equal to <Ctrl-K>+letter,
to minimize possible problems.
■ Message Index and Conference Selector now has a <Ctrl-K>+letter quick
selector to speed up conference selection.
■ Conference Selector now has "New [M]sgs" command. This will load
information from the message base to show how many new messages are
in each conference.
■ New variable "common.directory" has been added to the SFEMB.CFG
dictionary. This will point to the common directory for use with
the new USERS.EMB file.
■ SFEMB will now create and maintain a USERS.EMB file. This will be
used more in the next release.
■ SFEMB will attempt to obtain information for the default
"message.location" and the "common.directory" from the SFNODE.DAT file.
The common directory will default to the Spitfire work directory.
■ Sysop is no longer asked if they want to update their LMR, its assumed
to be yes.
■ Work was done to increase compatibly in the VT-100 non-color mode (for
those Amiga users...)
■ "R" as well as "S" will now select in the Conference Selector and
Message Index.
■ "<Q>uit" is now shown on the lower command line.

═══════════════════
■ A full-screen internal ANSI message editor has been added. This is
the very *FIRST* version of this, so please be patient with its
limitations.
■ Because of the adition of the internal message editor, both of the
external variables have been disabled. This may change in the future
but lets give the internal editor a shot.
■ A new work.directory variable was included in order to re-direct some
files that get written to disk to all be put in the same spot.
■ Work files have been renamed according to their node in order to better
accomplish multi-node goals.
■ A "wordwrap" toggle was added to the quote-select screen. This will
attempt to word wrap the message so parts don't get chopped off.

═══════════════════
■ The bug in the message scan, where *HUGE* amounts of time would
be reported, is fixed.
■ The noise upon startup has been removed.
April 13, 1994
═══════════════════
■ Nasty bug fixed that spewed random pointers around your message
base if someone "replied" while in the "your message scan" mode.
It now behaves as it should.
■ Now able to reply & enter messages in a conference besides the one
your in. (not fully tested)
■ If the last read message also shows up in the "Last 7 Messages"
listing, it will be emphasized.
■ A simple help menu is at the bottom of the screen now.
■ The Help screen was redone, and the "?" now works properly.
■ Sysop may now save a message to disk.
■ Two new SFEMB usernames have been added "SFEMB SYSOP" and
"SFEMB *". Their functions will be displayed below:
Sfemb Sysop : All people who are a sysop and doing an
Your Message Scan with SFEMB will have this
message flagged to them. This message will
not dissapear until someone deletes it.
Sfemb * : All users who use SFEMB Your Message Scan will
have this message flagged to them. This message
will be in *EVERYBODYS* "your message scan" until
a sysop deletes it.
These two usernames can be very usefull, or very annoying. Right
now only a Sysop is allowed to enter a Sfemb Sysop, or Sfemb * message
within SFEMB. A clever user *COULD* bypass this lockout, and enter
a SFEMB username by using Spitfire directly. Watch for this. If this
becomes a problem, I'll include an "off-switch" for sysops who do not
wish to use this.
■ SFEMB will now make notes within the text of your message, explaining
special things like:
SFEMB:: This is a PRIVATE message.
SFEMB:: This is routed to: 801000
etc.
■ SFEMB will now seek out, and use CircuitNET routing numbers when it
can find them, and while "use.circuitnet" is set to true.
■ Users can now create a tag-line to end their message.

═══════════════════
■ Simple message import algorithm completed. Local messages may be
replied to via either the Local Editor (LEDIT) or the Online Editor
(OEDIT). Either of these editors are sysop definable. Work is
being done in creating a native EMB Online Editor, but in the mean-
time the appropriate command line is given to use DOORWAY as the
IO intermediary.
■ Bug fixed in the "Your message scan" that would not update the
message headers appropriately when reading. This has been fixed.
■ Ansi coding fixed that allowed the screen to look acceptable even
on a 24 row monitor.
■ Interactive message quoting is available, by quiting the defined
editor. The user can then select the next quote, and re-enter the
editor.
HINTS:
* Turn off the SPITFIRE internal message scan if using the "SCAN"
parameter in the SFLOGON.BAT file. Users DON'T want see their
new messages scanned twice.
